When You Need Jesus Now

Jesus’ Embrace, 2024

What she said about my art changed the way I see it now.

A few weeks ago, I was walking with my friend talking about life and work, and my art came up in conversation. This friend has bought a couple of products from me, including an art print of Jesus’ Embrace that she gave to her friend. Here’s what my friend said about it:

“The woman I gave it to had been grieving her mother who passed away and was/is dealing with a lot of family issues. She immediately broke into tears when she saw the picture and said that it is exactly the picture she needed to see to remind her that Jesus was holding her through this and feels her pain. She lives between two homes in different states and keeps the picture in a special place in each home and keeps it on the dashboard of her car as she travels as to always have a visual of Jesus’s loving comfort.

She said, ‘I look at my picture when I need reminded that Jesus is in the present moment with me right in the here and now. Often it can seem as though Jesus is distant when you visualize stories in the Bible as it seems past tense. The picture of His loving arms around the woman is a perfect visual that Jesus is with me RIGHT NOW, holding me through whatever I may be feeling or experiencing.’”

Jesus’ Embrace, 2024

I really loved this interpretation because a Christian living in this time has to have faith in stories that seem so far away. Often God himself seems so far away. And that’s why I hope that my art helps to visualize the unseen hope that we have in Jesus. There are many abstract concepts that art can help us to feel rather than purely conceptualize.

Though the stories in the Bible are undoubtedly inspiring, I’ve rarely felt called to directly illustrate them. Rather, I want to interpret what those stories mean for us today, and how God can guide us in the time we live in now.

Jesus Lightweaver, 2025

“You are so gifted and talented and I love how you bring your art, your faith and your personal journey in life all together to create something so powerful and meaningful for people to interpret in the ways that bring them joy, comfort, hope and peace. Keep using your gift, it’s a blessing!” - my friend

If you agree that my art moves you in this way, you can bring a piece of this hope into your home to remember that Christ is always with you. Click here for available products and thank you for being here as a part of this journey.
